Event Description

A Gap I Mind is a newly formed theatre company. Our ethos is to involve and inspire young performers and actors to realize they’re potential and develop their creative urges: to the point of exploring and developing productions and workshops. We will provide an environment for all forms of collaboration where ideas can be put into action.
The first step is to get all of you who share this desire together.

We begin with a workshop…

Physicality. Communication. Text.

Physicality…The workshop explores the potential for physical expression through the body and movement, to discover and then challenge the capabilities of your form. We will play with a series of exercises that provoke you to move your body with commitment, purpose and energy in order for you to achieve your creative objectives.

Communication… Within the first stage of the workshop it is important for the group to develop a rhythm in which to work. This will be built organically using a variety of physical theatre techniques and will progress hand in hand with our physical exploration. This powerful and profound sense of dialogue that will of been developed in these tasks: is crucial to the work. The aim is for the participants to grasp the concept of how communication in all forms is fundamental to all, audience worthy, theatrical art.

Text… Now we merge our newfound techniques and dialogues with text. We will explore how our physical practices can be highly valuable in finding truth in text work. How a higher level of communication: a physical communication. Is a necessary method in finding truth in naturalistic work.

The workshop will provoke…

• Further confidence in your body and the way it moves.
• The crucial core strength and discipline of the body.
• The release of physical & social inhibitions.
• Trust in self and others.
• An ability to work in an atmosphere that is highly beneficial to one’s own creativity but also acutely conscious of the creativity of others.
• To enable true communication.
• A powerful relationship between speech and movement
• How to truly investigate text.
