Warhorse Host - The Performers Playground

Meeting every monday evening from 6.30pm - 9.00pm
The Thanet centre, Herbert Road, NW5
Cost: £7 non-members; £5 members. Lifetime membership is £10.

Warhorse Theatreworks host 'The Performers Playground' a weekly meeting for performers, directors and writers to collaboratively explore and create new theatre. Using the work of (among others) Lecoq, Chekhov, Laban and John Wright together with the principles of mask, puppetry and mime, we wil be exploring ways of working within an ensemble, creating complicity on stage, turning ideas into performances, developing new skills and honing existing talents. Whether you use the Playground to develop your ideas into new work or simply enjoy being part of a larger performing network, we aim to keep you creatively and physically healthy. Come and play! PERFORMERS PLAYGROUND FEEDBACK

"Thank you for another brilliant workshop with lee jackson last evening.

as ever i was wowed by the high calibre of the work and am amazed you can get this level of professionalism in such a warm generous, inclusive and easy atmosphere. cynthia - the new colleague we brought to play yesterday - was convinced that she was the only newcomer in the room, so cohesive did the group look to her (no complaints - she felt as welcomed in as we have been).

this space to play and experiment and fail and laugh and try again is already fuelling my professional work - keeping me alert to the anxieties and concerns participants experience in a workshop, stretching and widening my own creativity, and adding to my repertoire of workshop ideas and practices"

Mark Trezona - Actor

"As a performer and workshop leader I got a lot from the space that was created by warhorse theatre works in that it is aimed at people already primed, so I was able to 'play' without the usual awkwardness that precludes these things. The workshop I attended was professional and inspiring and a great place to network and get ideas"

Melissa Leigh-Actor

"Since I moved to London I've been hoping to find some kind of supportive & creative community that I could contribute to as a performer. I had just decided that if I wanted to find like minded people I would have to set something up myself & then I stumbled over The Performers' Playground & what a joy it has been!

I have been coming since the first week & I try to never miss a session if I can help it as it is always a highlight of my week. It is a chance to experiment and play in a supportive environment & learn & share new skills. It is so refreshing to be part of something that is not for profit but for the benifit of everyone involved. It has been a great way of meeting people of a similar mind set & I hold the ethos of the company in high esteem & would recommend The Performers' Playground to anyone who wants to keep their skills sharp or learn something new. So come along!"

Micci Gorrod-Actor

"Warhorse's Performer's Playground came out of nowhere and at such a perfect time. As an actor there are many moments when you aren't working, and will often sometimes doubt your ability, but Warhorse have provided a creative haven for Actors to explore, share, and improve, in what I can only describe as 'one of london's most magnificent spaces for the arts'. Wendy and Hayley are passionate and talented, and have opened a door in an industry where so many doors are closed. This is a company of infinite possibilities...dedicated, brave, strong, and unique."

Simon Wegrzyn-Actor
