Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
I am a writer and director for theatre and Artistic Director of 4FRONT Performance Company.
My Quick CV
Darren graduated in Drama from the University of Lincoln (Lincoln School of Performing Arts) in 2009.He directed several productions whilst at University, including a production of Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine and Sweeney Todd, the original George Dibdin Pitt version of the Victorian melodrama, which played at the newly opened Lincoln Performing Arts Centre as the centrepiece of a major Conference exploring Victorian Melodrama in May 2008. His first written play, Going Down, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008

Darren's first play for 4FRONT was J, D and Coke, which showcased at the Lincoln Drill Hall in January 2009 and sold out. This play launched the beginning of 4FRONT Performance Company, of which Darren is the Artistic Director

4FRONT then went on to produce, Going Down, which toured nationally and received a number of successful reviews.

He has since directed 'Red Betrayal' as part of a double bill of theatre which showcased in April 2010 and has recently directed a new devised physical theatre piece 'Fragments' which was showcased in June 2010 at the European House of Arts Cultural Festival in the city of Lincoln.
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
The power of imagination
My favourite theatre something is...
Peter Brook, Grotowski, Artaud
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
A lot of theatre productions treat their audiences like idiots.

I was involved in the play my Uni drama society took to the Fringe this year, but nothing other than that - there's no theatre that I can find near where I am, so I'm just applying for any theatre-related job going.
Good luck with touring! Where would you be planning to go?
