The Dumb Waiter at The Space @ Surgeons Hall (V53)

"…you come into a place when it's still dark, you come into a room you've never seen before, you sleep all day, you do your job, and then you go away in the night again." First performed in 1960 Harold Pinter’s darkest comedy, the Dumb Waiter is a…

Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
Drama Student-University of Cumbria
Founding Member of Fresh Motion Theatre UK
My Quick CV
I have been involved in many plays for my local amateur dramatics company before I started university including Peter Van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank and hapless Tim in Noises Off. More high profile work included a run at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Luke Micheals in Christmas Is Miles Away, A project which I also produced. Last year I got involved in the festival in a technical capacity, operating the sound and lights for The Stronger by Strindberg, Tears of a Clown, Beside Myself and the Regina Monologues. University productions have included roles such as as Freddie in A Day In the Death of Joe Egg and the Actor/Devil in Goethe’s Faust Part one. I have assisted backstage for the Dukes show Colder Than Here in January 2009 as well as various other shows. Most recent was the role of Gus in Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter for Fresh Motion Theatre UK at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As one of the founding members of Fresh Motion Theatre I am planning to tour with the Dumb Waiter in the spring.
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
Lots of things:

Harry Enfield (mimicking his characters got me into acting)

The Dukes in Lancaster. Promenade seasons in the park were some of the first proffesional plays I saw

Peter Schaffer. I once went for an audition and used a monologue from Five Finger Exercise. I saw Equus in London on the very same trip.
My favourite theatre something is...
Modern mainstream plays.
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
Over emphasis on musicals in the West End
