The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
Seeing my dad playing Don Pedro in Much Ado, rehearsing in full Elizabethan costume with his fellow actors in our back garden. I was about 8 at the time.
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
It's getting better, but there's still FAR too many people writing scripts that cast women as either 20-something tottie or 60-something mad woman, with very little in between. And assuming that doctor, lawyer, judge - i.e. anyone with a brain - is a man. And thinking that women in their 30s, 40s and 50s are perfectly happy to audition for yet another downtrodden housewife role. Wake up - it's the 21st century!
