The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
Not being allowed to go onto the stage at a panto when I was a really young child and never giving up since.
Having my breath taken away by a performance of Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf
My favourite theatre something is...
The smell of backstage, the play that makes you remember what you're in it for.
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
Not being able to see EVERYTHING!!!

London

Could anyone give me some good pro's and con's for moving to London as an actor. I'm in Manchester now, and happy, but everyone says "oh, you MUST move to London if you want to get anywhere".
Anyone?
Thanks.

24/7theatre festival

Hello all,

I'm not sure how many of you are here from Manchester, but it's definitely worth a plug in any case. This year sees the 4th annual 24/7 Theatre Festival that takes place in Manchester. Each year around 24 new plays are chosen from thousands of applicants, each a peice of origional, never seen before theatre, and performed in various non-theatre venues around Manchester city centre.
As part of last year's festival, three winning plays were taken to Bolton's

Hi, Zoe

I went to see one of the plays in the 24/7 festival last year. A friend called Fiona Gordon was in it. It's a great idea and Manchester deserves it. I hope I can get to some of this year's plays - and hope you get a part!

We produce radio/audio drama and I notice you'd like to get into that field. We're not registered BBC suppliers (yet!) but we are plugging away at producing plays to build up our CV. So will keep you in mind for future productions.

As to whether you have to be in London to 'get on', I'm not sure. There are obviously more things going on in London, but it's more expensive to live etc, and more people chasing each role I would think. I'll try to get a friend to pop along and give you an actor's view if she has time (she lives in London).

Best wishes

Peter

Zoe,

Please accept compliments on your accomplishments; how do we make our mutual goal of more radio happen?

Best,

William
