Profile

My Quick CV
I am an actor. As a theatre and arts practitioner, filmmaker, workshop facilitator, teacher and trainer I use film theatre mediums to provide drama/video based learning programmes & participatory theatre projects. I work within the criminal justice settings, local authority, education, social services and health. Currently using drama and conflict resolution techniques to work with young people in 'gang intervention programmes' I have over 16 years of experience of running projects, courses, workshops and performances nationally & internationally with adults, young people and people at risk.
The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
(being blinded by the lights!) Breaking Barriers

A creative arts Training course specialising in:

Augusto Boal techniques
Improvisation
Devising
Performance
Facilitation
Youth Arts
Exploring issues;
Arts within Criminal Justice Settings
This highly practical hands-on course is particularly suited to people who want to experience and practise a variety of creative action methods in group work to explore issues, make theatre or work within challenging contexts.

Who is this for?
Front line staff and workers involved with targeted youth and adult support and in the delivery of services to adults & young People.

People interested in using drama and theatre as a tool to explore personal and social issues, and for people who want to gain new skills to fulfil their obligation and commitment to the people they serve. The course covers exercises with explanations, instructions and suggestions to help you develop your own style and approach. The creative action methods can be readily adapted to a wide range of settings with adults and young people.

The course is a resource for: performers, education psychologists, key workers, health visitors, family support workers, PAYP workers, YOS staff, youth workers, social/health workers, PSHE specialists, drama graduates, project managers, community workers, artists, workshop leaders, teachers, theatre practitioners, creative art therapists, counsellors, mental health workers, schools, voluntary & community sector agencies, teenage parent support workers, information advice and guidence providers, housing support staff, the police, team builders and special needs workers.

"Excellent course - well facilitated, great material and very inspiring".

"I feel confident because of the time spent practising - will definitely recommend to others."

"You established a context that was safe and deeply encouraging. Your openness and joy were infectious."

"There was a groundedness and realness about the whole experience, which was a rare treat."

"Your holding of the group felt very strong I had the time and space to deal with some difficult things happening at home."
My favourite theatre something is...
being nervous before I go on.
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
that the powers that be keep changing the goalposts so that there is no sustainability for people to develop
