Ewan McGregor Returns to London Stage in Lila Raicek's My Master Builder

Ewan McGregor is set to return to the London stage after 17 years, starring in Lila Raicek’s new play My Master Builder, directed by Michael Grandage. The play, a modern take on sexual politics inspired by Ibsen, will open on 29 April 2025 at Wyndham's Theatre, with previews starting on 17 April.

My Master Builder reunites McGregor with director Michael Grandage following their acclaimed collaborations on Othello and Guys and Dolls. The play, set on the eve of July 4th in the Hamptons, revolves around publishing magnate Elena Solness, her architect husband Henry Solness, played by McGregor, and the turmoil following the arrival of Henry's former student, Mathilde, sparking a night of reckonings and revelations.

The production promises to lay bare the vulnerabilities exposed when one is open to love, combining Grandage's direction with Raicek's incisive writing to create a compelling drama. The play aims to bring emerging voices to the West End and features over 10,000 tickets priced at £25 to make it accessible to a broad audience.

With a commitment to open new plays in the West End and bring original voices to as wide an audience as possible, Grandage expressed excitement about collaborating again with McGregor and introducing Raicek’s work to London theatregoers.
