Ein Entschärfungsteam der Royal Navy rückte an und konnte sie unschädlich machen. Parnell wurde 1945 Managing Director und setzte auf einen radikalen Kurs: ganz oben auf dem Programm standen fortan vor allem berühmte amerikanische Stars. Dazu zählten Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis Jr. und Frank Sinatra. Noch grösser wurde die Popularität der Varieté-Abende durch die ITV-Sendung Sunday Night at the London Palladium, die während ihrer gesamten Laufzeit (1955–1967) live ausgestrahlt wurde. 1968 brachte das Haus sein erstes Musical heraus: Golden Boy mit Sammy Davis Jr. in der Hauptrolle. Nach einer Rückkehr zum Varieté in den 1980er-Jahren (ITV1: Live From the Palladium) zeigte das Theater zunehmend Musicals – darunter Oliver! und Saturday Night Fever. Als die Really Useful Group das Haus im Jahr 2000 übernahm, setzte sich dieser Trend fort. History

Open its opening on December 26 1910, The Palladium (as it was titled until 1934) quickly became a premier venue for variety performances, such as the 1926 pantomime Cinderella (video footage of this production remains to this day). Throughout the 1930s, the entertainment group The Crazy Gang performed at the theatre regularly, gaining widespread popularity with the general public as well as the Royal Family. During this time, bookings were manages by theatrical impresario Val Parnell.

During the Second World War, the theatre suffered a bomb scare when an unexploded parachute mine fell through the roof. A Royal Navy bomb disposal team arrived on the scene and managed to render it safe.

Parnell became managing director in 1945 and embarked on a radical policy of favoring famous American acts at the top of the bill. These included Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis Jr, and Frank Sinatra. The popularity of the Palladium’s variety shows would be further expanded with the ITV programme Sunday Night at the London Palladium, which was broadcast live throughout its run (1955-1967). In 1968, the theatre produced its first musical, Golden Boy starring Sammy Davis Jr.

After a return to variety in the 1980s (ITV1’s Live From the Palladium), the theatre began showing more musicals, Including Oliver! and Saturday Night Fever. When the Really Useful Group purchased the theatre in 2000, the trend continued.

The theatre often returns to its roots as the host of music concerts (such as Elton John) and as a regular host of the Royal Variety Performance (as recently as 2013).

Great theatre. Wonderful panto, never laughed so much. Julian Clarey was amazing, so so funny, but Catherine Tate and Nigel Havers also so good. Amazing sets and costumes, had a great time. Would love to see again next year.

Absolutely breathtaking show! Last night at the London Palladium was pure magic. Dita’s show is elegance, power, femininity, and flawless artistry all in one. Every detail-from choreography and costumes to lighting and music-was executed to absolute perfection. The atmosphere was electric, the performers were phenomenal, and the entire show felt like a living piece of art. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was an experience-sensual, bold, classy, and unforgettable. A standing ovation-worthy performance. Thank you for such an inspiring and beautiful night. Ordering a concert ticket was very easy,I had a couple of questions regarding my order which were answered quickly online and over the phone by customer service. The venue is a beautiful,historic theatre which hasn't been over refurbished,so you do have a sense of history in the auditorium. Good queue management prior to the show (Psychedelic Furs),quick bar service,clean toilets,comfortable stall seats and comfortable temperature. Great support act(Anja Huwe). Amazing performance from the"Furs",great audience atmosphere and everyone dancing halfway through the set. Looking forward to Jethro Tull in May '26.

Managed to get good seats for the Dead Ringers tour at the last minute (cancellation came up) Seats were good in the stalls, but uglf you're above average height your knees will suffer as mine did. Nice inside, although a bit of a maze (think all old theatres are though) Fantastic show though. And when it finished we were able to go out one of the other exits so didn't spend too long queuing
