Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap plays Milton Keynes Theatre on its 75th anniversary UK and Ireland tour, 26 April to 1 May 2027, with Nicholas Bailey and Susan Penhaligon.
The Mousetrap Milton Keynes tickets are for Agatha Christie’s whodunnit at Milton Keynes Theatre from Monday 26 April to Saturday 1 May 2027, one of the final spring stops on the play’s 75th anniversary tour. Evening shows are at 7.30pm Monday to Saturday, with 2.30pm matinees on Wednesday 28 April and Saturday 1 May.
Milton Keynes Theatre opened in 1999 at 500 Marlborough Gate, at the heart of the city’s grid of boulevards, and quickly became one of the leading receiving houses in the South East. Its most unusual feature is the auditorium itself: the ceiling and seating can be adjusted, lowering the room for plays so that around 1,400 seats feel close and personal. For a mystery set entirely in one room, where every exchange carries a clue, that flexibility is a real advantage. Milton Keynes audiences are used to Christie, too; the theatre regularly hosts touring productions of her plays.
The run spans the end of April and the start of May, with the bank holiday weekend following straight after the final Saturday. Spring in Campbell Park, a short walk from the theatre, makes a pleasant start to a matinee afternoon before the stage turns to midwinter.
Monkswell Manor has been open as a guesthouse for exactly one day when the snow arrives. Owners Mollie and Giles Ralston are still learning the ropes, and their first guests are an awkward collection: a young man who cannot sit still, a retired major, a woman who complains about everything, a brisk young lady who keeps her own counsel, and a stranger who claims his car has overturned in a drift. When Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives with a warning linked to a murder in London, the evening becomes a game of nerves. The solution is famous for being unspoken, and the cast will ask you to keep it to yourself.
The company is headed by Susan Penhaligon as Mrs Boyle and Nicholas Bailey as Major Metcalf. Penhaligon, best known for A Fine Romance, has already played in the London production; Bailey is remembered from EastEnders and a long stage career. Emily Laing and Jack Hardwick are Mollie and Giles Ralston, with Thomas Barrett as Christopher Wren, Clare Duffy as Miss Casewell, James Peake as Mr Paravicini and Alfie Richards as Detective Sergeant Trotter. Ben Gresswell, Sophie Lagden, Judith Rae and Darren Ruston are the understudies. Hannah Chissick directs.
The play runs for about 2 hours 5 minutes including a 20-minute interval and is recommended for ages 7 and over. Evening performances finish at around 9.35pm, which suits commuters and families alike, and the matinees are ideal for school age children. The Stalls give the most intimate view of the cast; the Circle shows the full set, including the doors and windows through which characters slip in and out. Our Milton Keynes Theatre venue guide explains seating, access and facilities.
Christie adapted the play from her radio drama Three Blind Mice, written for Queen Mary’s 80th birthday. It opened in the West End in 1952 and has been running ever since, making it the longest running play in history. Our guide to the world’s longest running play explores that story, and the original production still plays nightly at The Mousetrap at St Martin’s Theatre in London, an easy train ride from Milton Keynes Central.
The theatre sits next to the Centre:MK shopping area and the Xscape building, with restaurants all around Theatre District. Milton Keynes Central station is a short bus or taxi ride away, and there is extensive parking close to the theatre.
Milton Keynes follows Southampton and comes before Malvern. Earlier ATG stops include The Mousetrap in Aylesbury, less than an hour away, in November 2026, and The Mousetrap in Glasgow a fortnight before. The full route is on our Mousetrap UK tour page.
The Mousetrap plays for one week, 26 April to 1 May 2027: evenings at 7.30pm from Monday to Saturday, with 2.30pm matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. The running time is approximately 2 hours 5 minutes, including a 20-minute interval, and the show is recommended for ages 7 and over.
