The Lyric Hammersmith has been part of west London's story for well over a hundred years. The theatre took root in Hammersmith during the late nineteenth century and has occupied its King Street address through many chapters of British theatrical history, earning a reputation that extends far beyond its local borough.

The Victorian auditorium at the core of the building is among the finest of its kind still in existence anywhere in the country. When the surrounding structure required wholesale reconstruction, enormous care was taken to preserve and faithfully reinstate this interior, a project that reached completion in 2015. The result is a theatre that honours its past while operating as a fully equipped, modern producing house.
