What is It Gets Bitter about?
The show turns Bianca's famously sharp tongue on the absurdities of modern life. Pop culture, world events and the everyday habits that drive her to the brink are all fair game, and no topic is off limits. Expect tightly written stand-up mixed with quick-fire audience interaction, in the style of insult comedy she has made her own.
There is a warning for anyone with a fragile ego: choose your seats carefully. In classic Bianca fashion, the front row is a firing squad, and nobody close to the stage is safe from her put-downs.
Bianca said: “There's a lot going on in the world today, and I have a lot to say about it. I'm looking forward to finally getting back on the road and venting to anyone who will listen. The old saying is 'It gets better', but I'm proof that after 30 years in drag 'It Gets Bitter'!!”
Who is Bianca Del Rio?
Bianca shot to fame as the breakout star and winner of season six of RuPaul's Drag Race. The New York Times dubbed her the “Joan Rivers of the Drag World”, and she calls herself the “Clown in a Gown”. Her comedy is built on frankness, timing and a willingness to say what everyone else is thinking.
Away from stand-up, she has starred in the films Hurricane Bianca and Hurricane Bianca 2: From Russia with Hate, the comedy special Rolodex of Hate and the television specials Not Today, Bianca. She is the author of Blame It On Bianca Del Rio: The Expert on Nothing with an Opinion on Everything, and she returns to television in season six of The Traitors US.
Theatre fans may remember her West End debut as Hugo and Loco Chanelle in the musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie, which we covered when it was announced in 2019.
Each city gets one night, and London's only date is Tuesday 13 April at The London Palladium. Cardiff on Thursday 15 April is the last of the 13 dates.
