The Mousetrap gets a new West End cast and a refreshed St Martin's for its 75th year

The Mousetrap has a new West End cast and director from 11 November 2026, plus a refurbished St Martin's Theatre, as it enters its 75th year.

The Mousetrap is heading into its 75th year in the West End with a new cast, a new director and a refreshed theatre. Agatha Christie's whodunnit welcomes a new London line-up at St Martin's Theatre from 11 November 2026, ahead of a gala performance on 25 November, the date the play opened in London in 1952. If you want to see the new cast settle in, you can book The Mousetrap tickets at St Martin's Theatre now.

Who is directing the new West End cast?

Hannah Chissick takes charge of the London staging. She is already directing the 75th anniversary tour of the UK and Ireland, so she arrives at St Martin's having spent the autumn steering the play around the country. You can read more about the touring version in our guide to the 75th anniversary UK and Ireland tour, which has its own separate cast.

Who is in the new cast?

Eight actors make up the new London line-up of guests and hosts at Monkswell Manor:

  • Marcus Adolphy as Major Metcalf
  • Jonathan Cobb as Detective Sergeant Trotter
  • Rosa Coduri-Fulford as Miss Casewell
  • Dean Graham as Mr Paravicini
  • Dan Nicholson as Giles Ralston
  • Jake Rory as Christopher Wren
  • Gay Soper as Mrs Boyle
  • Sarah Twomey as Mollie Ralston

They take over from the current West End cast, who have been playing the roles since May. Mollie and Giles Ralston are the young couple running the guesthouse, and Detective Sergeant Trotter is the policeman who arrives through the snow. We will say no more than that.

What is changing on stage?

The new staging comes with a fresh look. Walt Spangler has designed a new set, Nic Farman is lighting designer and Max Perryment is sound designer. Farman also lights the touring version, linking the London and touring stagings.

The wider creative team includes casting director Marc Frankum, fight and intimacy director Maisie Carter, costume supervisor Caroline Hannam, associate lighting designer Nicola Crawford and resident director Myles Brown.

What is happening to the theatre itself?

St Martin's is getting some attention too. Studio Shayne Brady is overseeing a refurbishment of the interiors, with redesigned bars and new decorative details across the stalls, dress circle and upper circle. Mr Lyan Studio is creating a new cocktail menu for the venue, so the interval drink should feel a little more special.

The theatre is a small, traditional house built by W. G. R. Sprague and opened in 1916, and the play has run there since March 1974, when it moved next door from the Ambassadors. You can find seating, access and travel details in our St Martin's Theatre guide.

Brian Fenty, who produces the play, said the investment covers the show, the building and the experience of an evening out. "To be entrusted with this remarkable piece of theatre history is both a privilege and a responsibility," he said, adding that the aim is to keep it as thrilling as ever.

Why does this year matter so much?

Christie based the play on her radio drama Three Blind Mice, broadcast on 30 May 1947. It opened in the West End on 25 November 1952 and is the longest running play in the world. The story follows a group of strangers snowed in at a country guesthouse after news of a murder in London, and tradition asks everyone who sees it to keep the identity of the killer to themselves.

The gala on 25 November 2026 marks the start of that 75th year, with the 75th anniversary itself falling in November 2027. It is also among just a pair of plays by women currently running in the West End.

How can I see the new cast?

The new West End cast begins performances on 11 November 2026 and the run is open ended, so there is plenty of time, but the anniversary months are likely to be busy. Choose your date and seats on our The Mousetrap tickets page.
