Backstage Tours at Theatre Royal Brighton: one-hour guided tours of hidden spaces, the stage and 200+ years of history for ages 12+. Book your tour today.
Backstage Tours at Theatre Royal Brighton offer an hour-long guided look behind the scenes of a Grade II listed building with over 200 years of working theatre history. The tour is open to ages 12 and above and takes in the stage, the so-called gulp bar and a backstage area built from former fishermen's cottages.
Guests step onto the stage, stand at the gulp bar reportedly used by Laurence Olivier, and move through a backstage area whose structure incorporates converted fishermen's cottages. The source describes the building as one of the oldest working theatres in the country and notes it holds over 200 years of stories.
The tour is listed as a Creative Learning event. It is a guided experience of the building's backstage spaces, not a performance or workshop.
The tour is for ages 12 and above. Access is by staircase only throughout, and comfortable footwear is advised. Guests should arrive at Stage Door on Bond Street five minutes before their booked start time, where a tour guide will meet the group.
The standard start time is 10.30am. Certain dates run at 9.30am instead, so check the exact time when booking.
These are the dates listed by ATG as checked on 21 September 2026. A date range may contain selected performances, rather than a show every day. Open your chosen venue link for exact times, seats and current prices.
