Ballet Nights at Theatre Royal Brighton features Alina Cojocaru OBE, Paris Opera stars and live music in one curated evening. Book tickets today.
Ballet Nights returns to Theatre Royal Brighton for a single evening of international ballet and contemporary dance alongside live music. The programme centres on Alina Cojocaru OBE, former Principal of The Royal Ballet, with artists drawn from Paris, New York and across British dance.
Alina Cojocaru OBE performs new choreography created for her by Kim Brandstrup. Brandstrup's work appears a second time in the same programme: Seirian Griffiths, an emerging figure in UK contemporary dance, performs an extract from Brandstrup's award-winning Breaking Bach, bringing two generations of artists into contact with a single choreographic voice.
Paris Opera Étoile Paul Marque appears alongside fellow Paris Opera star Bleuenn Battistoni. Laurel Dalley Smith represents The Martha Graham Dance Company, while James Wilton Dance contributes to the independent British contemporary strand. Liam Woodvine, a Bajan dance artist, and Patrick Alexander Keefe, an English National Opera Harewood Artist, are also on the bill, as are the Acosta Dance Foundation and Rambert School, reflecting the programme's interest in placing emerging artists alongside established names.
Giles Pearson hosts and comperes the evening, shaping the programme through storytelling and connecting the audience to the artists between pieces. Quartet Concrete provide live music throughout, drawing on both classical and contemporary repertoire.
