BLOC Productions stages Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical at Bristol Hippodrome, with disco anthems and an Outback road trip story. Book tickets.
BLOC Productions brings Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical to Bristol Hippodrome. The show follows two drag queens and a transgender woman travelling the Australian Outback aboard a lavender bus, combining comedy, elaborate costuming and a catalogue of disco and pop anthems in a story about friendship and self-acceptance.
The musical has a book by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, adapted from the 1994 Australian film. It is presented by NULLARBOR PRODUCTIONS in association with MGM ON STAGE, with musical arrangements and orchestrations by Stephen 'Spud' Murphy, and was originally developed for the stage and directed by Simon Phillips.
The advertised songs include Finally and Hot Stuff, alongside I Will Survive and Girls Just Want to Have Fun. The familiar pop and disco material accompanies the characters’ journey across the Outback.
BLOC Productions previously staged We Will Rock You at Bristol Hippodrome. Their return to the venue with Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical continues that pattern of large-scale musical stagings.
