The Further Adventures of Peter Pan (Pantomime) - Relaxed Performance tickets in Sunderland

A brand-new pantomime adventure arrives at Sunderland Empire for Christmas 2026, with Bradley Riches as Peter Pan leading a cast that includes Miss Rory as Captain Rorina Hook, Tom Whalley as Smee, Olivia Birchenough as Ethel Mermaid, Millie Readshaw as Tinker Bell, and Sophie Bishop as Emily Darling. This is a Relaxed Performance, adapted for a wider range of audiences.

The story and the spectacle

The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook picks up after Peter's apparent triumph over the notorious pirate. Rumours spread that Hook survived the stormy seas and is plotting revenge, setting up a fresh storyline alongside familiar characters including Tinker Bell, Ethel Mermaid, and newcomer Emily Darling.

The production includes flying sequences, pirate sword fights, crocodile chases, special effects, audience interaction, and comedy. Bradley Riches is advertised as known for playing Lewis Barton in Emmerdale and James McEwan in Netflix's Heartstopper. Miss Rory (Boulevard) plays the villainous Captain Rorina Hook. Olivia Birchenough is advertised as a Channel 5 Milkshake! presenter returning to Sunderland as Ethel Mermaid, and Millie Readshaw, described as a SIX star, appears as Tinker Bell.

What the relaxed performance involves

This dedicated Relaxed Performance is adapted for those who may benefit from a more comfortable environment, including but not limited to people with an autism spectrum condition, those with a learning disability, and very young children.

Adaptations include reduced sudden loud noises and explosions, reduced flashing light sequences, and house lights left on throughout. Audiences are free to move around or make noise without discouragement. Earlier access to the auditorium is available, a chill-out area will be in place for anyone who needs a break, additional staff will be present to assist, and the cast will introduce themselves at the start.

A visual story containing photographs of both the theatre and the show can be requested in advance by emailing sunderlandaccess@atgentertainment.com. A free teacher resource pack is also available via the booking page.
