Moulin Rouge! The Musical announces new London cast from October 2026

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is refreshing its West End line-up as it heads towards five years at the Piccadilly Theatre. From Monday 12 October 2026, James Doherty joins as Harold Zidler and Daniel Fraser as The Duke, while Karis Anderson and Alistair Brammer continue as Satine and Christian. Nick Len will play Baby Doll and Billie-Kay will play Arabia.

Who is in the new Moulin Rouge! London cast?

According to the production’s announcement, published on 21 August, the principal cast from 12 October 2026 is:

The two headline arrivals bring plenty of West End experience. Doherty comes to the Piccadilly from Come From Away, and Fraser from Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. Richard Lloyd King stays on as the painter Toulouse-Lautrec, with Ivan De Freitas as the tango-dancing Santiago and Lindsey Tierney as Nini.

Karis Anderson and Alistair Brammer stay on as Satine and Christian

Anderson and Brammer remain as the doomed lovers: Satine, the star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub, and Christian, the young American writer who falls for her. Five years at the Piccadilly Theatre

Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been running at the Piccadilly Theatre since 12 November 2021, so this autumn marks its fifth anniversary in London. Based on Baz Luhrmann’s film, it has a book by John Logan and is directed by Alex Timbers, with choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine.

The story follows Christian and Satine as they fall for each other in turn-of-the-century Paris, while nightclub impresario Harold Zidler and the rich, possessive Duke of Monroth stand in their way. It is built as a jukebox spectacular, weaving pop hits old and new into mash-ups that play out in a transformed theatre dressed in crimson drapes, glowing hearts and a giant windmill.

British Theatre covered the show’s last major London cast change, when the musical announced a new cast from 17 October 2022, and this latest refresh follows the same autumn pattern.

It is a big, glossy night out rather than an intimate one, and it tends to suit groups, birthdays and anyone who enjoys singing along under their breath. You do not need to have seen the film to follow it, although fans of Luhrmann’s version will spot plenty of nods to it. The autumn half-term and the run-up to Christmas are traditionally busy weeks in the West End, so if you have a particular date in mind for the new cast’s opening months, it pays to book early.

Getting there. The Piccadilly Theatre stands at the junction of Denman Street and Sherwood Street, a few minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Circus Underground station. Charing Cross is the nearest mainline station. The theatre opened in 1928, and the whole building is dressed to match the show, so it is worth arriving early to take it all in.
