Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf: new stand-up, Lee faces a werewolf from his subconscious. Age 14+, 2 hrs. Book at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.
Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf is a new stand-up show in which Lee shares his stage with a werewolf comedian from the dark forests of the subconscious, who hates humanity and issues a ferocious comedy challenge to the culturally irrelevant and physically enfeebled Lee.
As Lee approaches sixty, burdened by health conditions and a diminished television profile, the show asks whether his unprecedentedly critically acclaimed style of stand-up can silence the beast within, or whether he has simply been left behind.
The comedy landscape forms part of the show's territory. Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais and Jordan Peterson are named as figures at the forefront of stadium-filling comedy, against which Lee's approach is positioned as potentially obsolete.
The performance runs for approximately two hours. Age guidance is 14 and above. Smoke, haze and dry ice are in use, which may be relevant for anyone with sensitivities to atmospheric effects.
