El papel de Willy Loman es muy exigente, requiriendo gran rango y sutileza por parte del actor. Sin embargo, el mayor requisito es que el actor sea Loman en lugar de interpretarlo; debe haber una inmersión total en el personaje y en las etapas diferentes del mismo. Debe ser posible ver al Loman que tanto fascinó e impresionó a sus hijos, al Loman que creía en el Sueño, y contrastarlo con el Loman que está abrumado, disminuido, destruido.
