Matilda The Musical is a Royal Shakespeare Company production with book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, directed by Matthew Warchus. The UK tour marks 15 years since the show opened at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, and follows a sharp-minded young girl who dares to change her own destiny.

The story and the show

Based on Roald Dahl's novel, the musical follows an extraordinarily clever young girl who uses her vivid imagination to take a stand and shape her own fate. Dennis Kelly wrote the book, with Tim Minchin providing the music and lyrics, under Matthew Warchus's direction.

The production has played in 100 cities across 17 countries since the RSC first staged it, and now returns for a UK tour.

Milton Keynes Central is the nearest railway station, on the London Euston to Birmingham main line. Buses run from outside the station to stops on Midsummer Boulevard by the theatre, and there is a taxi rank outside the station.

Parking

Several car parks sit close to the theatre and many are free after 6pm. Please note that the multistorey car park at the rear of the building has been closed by Milton Keynes Council. If you are driving, set your sat nav to the street name, Marlborough Gate, rather than the postcode. A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available immediately in front of the theatre on Midsummer Boulevard.
