Scottish Opera's touch tour for Alcina at Theatre Royal Glasgow is a free pre-show access event for audience members living with sight loss. The production the touch tour supports

Director Olivia Fuchs sets Handel's Alcina in a nightclub environment. Alcina is reimagined as a performance artist who bends the minds and reality of the men around her. That power is unsettled when Ruggiero arrives and provokes genuine feeling in her, and further tested when Ruggiero's fiancée enters in disguise to reclaim her lover, setting reason against enchantment.

Designs are by Yannis Thavoris and lighting by Jake Wiltshire. Conductor Dmitri Jurowski leads the orchestra. Madeline Boreham makes her company debut in the title role. Three singers on the 2026/27 Emerging Artists programme, Charlotte Clapperton, Charlotte Jane Kennedy and Luvo Maranti, also appear, alongside Emerging Artist alumni Chloe Harris and Edward Jowle. The production carries a content note for drug misuse.

What the touch tour involves

Participants gain hands-on access to sets, scenery, props and costumes that are otherwise only seen from the auditorium. Staff from audio description, stage management and wardrobe are present to describe the visual design and respond to questions. The session is free, though availability is limited.
