Jeremy Rafal's award-winning solo show The Boy from Bantay blends live piano, storytelling & cartoons at Norman Bragg Studio, Aylesbury. Book tickets.
The Boy from Bantay is a solo show in which Jeremy Rafal combines live classical piano, personal storytelling, and cartoons projected on a vintage television to trace a Filipino boy's journey from a small Philippine town to an international career in music and theatre. Directed by Josh Boerman, it won the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Asian Arts Award for Outstanding Male Performer.
Jeremy Rafal performs alone, moving between a classical piano and a vintage television onto which cartoons are projected. Spoken narrative threads through both elements to follow a journey from the town of Bantay in the Philippines to an international life in music and theatre. The show is semi-autobiographical and draws on themes of family, nostalgia, loss, and humour.
Following an acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run, the production returns to the UK stage at the Norman Bragg Studio in Aylesbury. It is supported by Pace University and directed by Josh Boerman.
