Elif Shafak discusses In One Brief Moment All Eternity at Theatre Royal Brighton with audience Q&A and post-event book signing. Book your tickets.
Elif Shafak, award-winning British-Turkish novelist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, appears live at Theatre Royal Brighton to discuss her new novel In One Brief Moment All Eternity, with an audience Q&A and a post-event book signing.
This is a ticketed author talk, not a theatrical performance. Shafak takes to the stage to explore the central question running through her new novel: what can literature offer society when the world feels fractured by violence, polarisation and crisis? Drawing directly on In One Brief Moment All Eternity, she reflects on a theme that has shaped her writing throughout her career.
Audience members are invited to put their own questions to Shafak during a dedicated Q&A segment.
Shafak has published 21 books, 13 of them novels, translated into 58 languages. Her novel 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World earned a Booker Prize shortlisting and was named Blackwell's Book of the Year. The Island of Missing Trees was a finalist for the Costa Award, the Women's Prize for Fiction and the RSL Ondaatje Prize. There Are Rivers in the Sky took the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Award 2025. The Forty Rules of Love was selected by the BBC among the 100 Novels that Shaped Our World.
She holds a PhD in political science, has taught at universities in Turkey, the United States and the UK, and is an honorary fellow of St Anne's College, Oxford. She is also President of the Royal Society of Literature and a Public Humanities Fellow at the School of Advanced Studies.
After the event, Shafak will sign books for attendees. Those who prefer certainty can pre-order a discounted signed hardback of In One Brief Moment All Eternity alongside their ticket; copies are collected at the venue on the night rather than posted.
