York Stage brings Everybody's Talking About Jamie to the Grand Opera House York for the first time, directed by Nik Briggs. The musical follows sixteen-year-old Jamie New, a Sheffield teenager who defies expectations with the support of his mum and friends. Age guidance is 12+.

The story

Inspired by a true story, the musical follows Jamie New, a teenager on a Sheffield council estate who doesn't conform to those around him. Backed by his mum and close friends, he confronts prejudice and finds his own voice by stepping into the spotlight on his own terms.

The pop score is composed by Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling, with book and lyrics by BAFTA and Olivier award-nominated writer Tom MacRae, known for his work on Dr Who.

This production

Nik Briggs has reimagined the show for York Stage, bringing the company's characteristic directness and honesty to the material. It is the first time the musical has been staged at the Grand Opera House York.
