Rambert's It's a Sin, directed by Benoit Swan Pouffer, brings Russell T Davies's AIDS-crisis story to life through contemporary dance. Book tickets.
Rambert's It's a Sin is a new contemporary dance work inspired by Russell T Davies's Channel 4 series, directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer. It follows Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill as friendship and freedom collide with the unfolding AIDS crisis, told through movement.
This is a contemporary dance production, not a stage musical or play with spoken dialogue. Rambert's dancers carry the narrative through movement, in a work inspired by the television series created by Russell T Davies and produced by Red Production Company.
The production is presented by Rambert and Factory International, co-produced with Wales Millennium Centre, Capital Theatres, Sadler's Wells, and Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg. Executive producers are Russell T Davies, Pet Shop Boys, and Glyn Fussell. Support has come from the Colwinston Charitable Trust's 30th Anniversary Fund and Arts Council England's Incentivising Touring pilot scheme for theatre and dance.
Age guidance is 15 and above. The production contains strong language, sexual references, scenes of a sexual nature, and partial nudity, as well as subject matter relating to HIV/AIDS, homophobia, illness, death, and grief. It also includes archive footage and testimonial material whose language and attitudes reflect those of the period, which some audiences may find upsetting or offensive.
