The stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027, with Oliver Tompsett as P. T. Barnum and Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum. Pasek and Paul's film score gains brand new songs written for the stage, and tickets are due to be released in the autumn.
The Greatest Showman is the stage adaptation of the 20th Century Studios film, with a story by Jenny Bicks, and it arrives at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from spring 2027. A restless maverick refuses the life everyone expects of him. Determined to build the greatest show on earth, he brings together the people the world tried to ignore and creates something far bigger than he ever imagined. Loosely inspired by the showman P. T. Barnum, it is a story about ambition, reinvention and the people the world writes off, told with the songs that turned the film soundtrack into a phenomenon, brand new numbers written for the stage, and live circus staged for a West End house.
The producers have announced a spring 2027 opening at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The first preview, the press night and the booking period have not been confirmed yet, and Disney Theatrical's official line is that the full schedule will be released soon. The London run follows the world premiere at the Bristol Hippodrome, which played from 15 March to 10 May 2026 in a run the producers described as sold out, without opening to critics.
Tickets are not on sale yet. The producers have said tickets will be released later in the autumn, with a sign-up list running now for presale and on-sale news. This page will switch to live dates, prices and seat availability the moment tickets are released, so it is worth saving and coming back to. You can also join the britishtheatre.com updates list and we will let you know when booking opens.
Oliver Tompsett plays P. T. Barnum and Samantha Barks plays Charity Barnum, with Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle, Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind and Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz. All five led the world premiere in Bristol and were confirmed for the Theatre Royal Drury Lane run on 15 August 2026. Further casting, including the role of Anne Wheeler, is still to be announced.
The stage version keeps the songs from the film, written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, among them "The Greatest Show", "A Million Dreams", "Come Alive", "The Other Side", "Rewrite the Stars", "Never Enough", "Tightrope", "From Now On" and the Golden Globe winning "This Is Me". Pasek and Paul have also written brand new songs specifically for the stage, several of which were introduced during the Bristol premiere, so the running order is not a straight copy of the soundtrack you know.
The songs are by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the book is by Tim Federle, and the production is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, whose West End credits include The Book of Mormon and Disney's Hercules. Alex Lacamoire is music supervisor and orchestrator, with scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by Peter Hylenski, video by George Reeve, circus design by Lorenzo Pisoni, hair and wigs by Josh Marquette, make-up by Milagros Medina-Cerdeira, special effects by Jeremy Chernick and illusions by Skylar Fox. It is produced by Disney Theatrical Group with The Seelig Group, and it is the first 20th Century Studios title to be adapted for the stage.
The Greatest Showman plays at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Catherine Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5JF. It is one of the West End's largest theatres, restored by LW Theatres and currently home to Disney's Hercules, with The Last Ship and a return of Jesus Christ Superstar booked into the theatre before the Showman company moves in. The nearest Underground stations are Covent Garden and Leicester Square, with Charing Cross the closest mainline station. Our Theatre Royal Drury Lane guide has the seating plan, access information and travel notes to help you pick seats once booking opens.
A Disney musical with a hit film soundtrack and a Bristol tryout the producers described as sold out, playing on one of the West End's largest stages, is the kind of title where the best seats go in the first on-sale window, so signing up for presale news is worth the two minutes. Age guidance and running time have not been published yet; the film was rated PG and the stage show trades in spectacle rather than shock, so it is shaping up as a family title in the mould of The Lion King and Matilda The Musical. We first covered this production when Disney announced the Bristol world premiere back in 2025.

Additional casting, including Anne Wheeler, will be announced later, and casting is subject to change.
