A lavish new West End musical charting Frank Sinatra's fall and spectacular comeback, starring Joel Harper-Jackson as Ol' Blue Eyes. More than twenty classic hits are performed live by a seventeen-piece orchestra at the Aldwych Theatre.
Sinatra The Musical is a brand-new West End production that dramatises one of the greatest comebacks in showbusiness history. Rather than skimming a whole life, it zeroes in on the turbulent years when Frank Sinatra tumbled from screaming-teenager idol to washed-up has-been and clawed his way back to the very top. Opening on New Year's Eve as the bobby-soxers chant his name, the story follows the crooner through a spectacular career collapse, a passionate and self-destructive romance with Hollywood star Ava Gardner, the painful breakdown of his marriage to first wife Nancy, and the hard-won, Oscar-winning film role that resurrected him as the Chairman of the Board. It is a portrait of ambition, arrogance, heartbreak and once-in-a-generation talent, set to the songs that made Ol' Blue Eyes a legend.
Joel Harper-Jackson takes the title role, and his performance has been singled out by critics as the beating heart of the show, capturing both the effortless swing and the steely precision of Sinatra at his peak. He is joined by Ana Villafañe as the glamorous and volatile film star Ava Gardner, and Phoebe Panaretos as Nancy, the devoted first wife left in the wake of Sinatra's fame. Olivier Award winner Jenna Russell features among a company that also includes Marty MacGuire and Mia Savident, backed by a full ensemble of singers and dancers.
The score is a jukebox of more than twenty of Sinatra's best-loved recordings, performed live by the cast and a seventeen-piece on-stage orchestra. Expect the swaggering brass of "Come Fly With Me", the wee-small-hours melancholy of "One For My Baby", and show-stopping renditions of "That's Life", "The Best Is Yet To Come", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Fly Me to the Moon", "New York, New York" and, inevitably, "My Way". Hearing these classic arrangements played by a live big band is a huge part of the evening's appeal.
The book is by two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, whose previous credits include Memphis and Nice Work If You Can Get It, while the production is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. Their pairing brings both narrative bite and slick, period-perfect dance to the Aldwych stage, recreating the smoke-filled clubs, recording studios and television soundstages of 1940s and 1950s America.
Sinatra The Musical plays at the Aldwych Theatre on Aldwych, in the heart of London's West End and a short walk from Covent Garden, Temple, Holborn and Charing Cross stations. The production is booking through to 10 April 2027. Evening performances run from Tuesday to Saturday, with matinees on selected afternoons; the exact dates and start times for every performance are shown in the live calendar on this page.
If you love the Great American Songbook, this is a lavish, big-band celebration of the man who defined it, anchored by a genuinely charismatic central performance and staged with real Hollywood-era glamour. It is an ideal night out for fans of jukebox and biographical musicals such as Jersey Boys and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, or anyone drawn to the golden-age showbiz world of Guys and Dolls. Because it explores adult themes including infidelity and the pressures of fame, it is best suited to teenagers and adults rather than young children.
