Relaxed panto at Grand Opera House York with Tom Lister, Holly Atterton and Joe Sleight, strobes removed and chill-out room available. Book tickets.
The Further Adventures of Peter Pan is a new musical pantomime at Grand Opera House York, with a specially adapted relaxed performance. Lighting, sound and strobe effects are modified, and audiences are free to move and make noise throughout.
This brand-new pantomime follows Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Smee through an original swashbuckling storyline, described as packed with flying scenes, comedy, songs and special effects at Grand Opera House York.
Tom Lister, known for Emmerdale and 42nd Street, plays Captain Hook. Jimmy Bryant, who appeared as Buttons in last year's Cinderella at the same venue, returns as Smee. Holly Atterton, whose credits include Nick Jr's Go! Go! Go!, Mamma Mia and Rocky Horror, plays Tinker Bell, with Joe Sleight, known for Blood Brothers, as Peter Pan. Further casting has been advertised as to be announced.
For this performance, auditorium lighting remains at a low level throughout, flashing and strobe effects are removed entirely, sound levels are lowered, and loud bangs are cut. The cast introduce themselves at the start.
Audiences can leave and re-enter the auditorium as needed, with earlier-than-usual access available. Moving around and making noise are welcomed. A chill-out room is provided for anyone who needs a quieter space, and additional staff are on hand to assist.
A visual story containing photos of the theatre and the show can be requested in advance by emailing yorkaccess@atgentertainment.com.
The relaxed performance is described as especially popular with audience members on the autism spectrum, those with a learning disability, and very young children attending theatre for the first time, though anyone who would benefit from a less formal atmosphere is welcome to book.
Age guidance is 3 and above. Children over 18 months must have their own ticket. Babies up to 18 months are accepted as Babes in Arms via a free voucher added at the point of booking.
