Magic Mike Live extends London run to 2 January 2028

Magic Mike Live is staying in the West End for a good while yet. Its producers have extended the London run at The Theatre at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, with performances now announced through to Sunday 2 January 2028. The news takes Channing Tatum’s dance and acrobatics spectacular past its ninth anniversary in the capital, which falls in November 2027.

What the Magic Mike Live extension means

This is a new booking period for the same production in the same purpose-built room, not a transfer or a new version of the show. According to the producers’ announcement, Magic Mike Live has now played nearly eight years in London since opening at the Hippodrome Casino in November 2018. In that time it has given more than 3,000 performances to over 900,000 people in London, and more than two million worldwide.

What is Magic Mike Live?

Magic Mike Live is a large-scale live show inspired by the films Magic Mike (2012) and Magic Mike XXL (2015). It was created by Channing Tatum, who co-directs it with Alison Faulk, and it is performed by an international company of dancers, acrobats and musical talent.

The format is closer to a club night crossed with a circus than a traditional musical. Guests enter Magic Mike’s fictional club, and the performers work in the round, dancing in front of, behind and above the audience across a show of around 90 minutes. Sharp choreography sits alongside aerial routines and one-of-a-kind speciality acts, with drinks available throughout. The show inspired the third film in the series, Magic Mike’s Last Dance (2023), as well as the television series Finding Magic Mike.

London is one of several homes for the show. It began in Las Vegas in April 2017, and the producers have announced a new flagship production in New York for January 2027, followed by an international touring version from February 2027. Who will enjoy Magic Mike Live?

The production describes itself as the ultimate girls’ night out or an electrifying date night, and that is a fair summary. It suits birthday groups, hen parties, friends celebrating a milestone, and couples looking for something livelier than a standard evening at the theatre. The mood is cheeky and high-energy rather than earnest, and much of the fun comes from the crowd reacting together.

It is worth being honest about the content. The production itself says that if you are not into letting your hair down, laughing out loud and very attractive men, it is probably not for you. Practical tips for your visit

Age and ID. Magic Mike Live is strictly for over-18s. The production states that a physical, hard-copy photo ID must be shown on arrival at the venue, so make sure everyone in your party brings theirs. A photo of an ID on a phone is not a safe bet.

Finding the theatre. The show plays at The Theatre at the Hippodrome Casino, Cranbourn Street, Leicester Square, London WC2H 7JH, with a dedicated entrance off Cranbourn Street. Leicester Square Tube station is about a minute’s walk away, with Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Charing Cross all within a few minutes. The nearest mainline stations are Charing Cross and Waterloo, and buses along Charing Cross Road include the 24, 29 and 176. Public transport is the easiest way to get there.

Performance times. Performances currently run from Wednesday to Sunday, with 4pm shows at weekends and a later 9.30pm performance on some nights. Always check the exact time on your chosen date before you travel.

Arrive early. The production encourages guests to arrive early and stay late, and the venue has two bars linked to the production, the Permission lounge just steps from the theatre and Archive & Myth, a cocktail bar hidden beneath the Hippodrome Casino and reached through a password-protected door off Cranbourn Street. The Heliot Steak House is on the same floor as the theatre if you want a meal before the show.

Access. The production says accessible seating is available at every performance for guests who need wheelchair access or other arrangements. The theatre has an infrared hearing system, and neck loops are available for hearing aid users. BSL interpreted, open captioned and audio described performances are also scheduled on selected dates, and these are arranged directly with the production.
