Two major West End productions are introducing new measures to toughen up COVID safety measures which many feel are long overdue and are seen to be important in bringing back broader audiences to the West End.

Both Moulin Rouge the musical and Cabaret the musical have now announced intentions to toughen measures for the protection of all. It is now worth checking required safety measures for all West End theatres before attending as it now appears conditions of entry may be changing.

Moulin Rouge! the musical will be requiring that ALL audiences attending the show will be required to wear masks. Speaking to The Stage producers made the following statement:- "Ambassadors Theatre Group and the producers of Moulin Rouge! The Musical are asking all audience members to wear masks when attending performances at the Piccadilly Theatre, in order to keep the production company and audiences safe. This policy will be reviewed on an ongoing basis". This appears to be in addition to existing ATG entry conditions which require proof of vaccination OR a negative lateral flow test.

A short while ago, producers of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club (London's Playhouse Theatre) issued a statement on social media:-

Both shows have upped their entry security measures to protect audiences and casts alike as it seems there has been a shift in thinking partially driven by audience concerns about safety whilst attending theatre productions.

BritishTheatre.com supports any moves made by producers that are aimed at keeping theatres open. We will keep informing you as any further information comes to hand.
