Jodie Steele, Stewart Clarke and Alfie Friedman will lead Wild About You when the new musical arrives at Charing Cross Theatre for its full London staging. Performances begin on Monday 18 January 2027 and the run ends on Saturday 10 April 2027, with the official opening on Tuesday 26 January. Wild About You tickets are on sale now on British Theatre for the whole run.
The show played two concert performances at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in March 2024, and this new run marks its debut with sets, costumes and full staging. Brian Spector, who produces the show, describes it as the “fully staged world premiere” of the musical, following what he calls “unforgettable sold-out concerts”.

Who is in the Wild About You cast?
Steele plays Olivia. Her musical theatre credits include Heathers The Musical in London and New York, Bonnie & Clyde at the Garrick Theatre and the UK tour of Six. Clarke takes the role of Michael, having appeared in Stranger Things at the Phoenix Theatre and Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre. Friedman, whose recent stage work has taken him to Southwark Playhouse and the Sondheim Theatre, plays Billy, the young man at the centre of the story.
They are joined by Danielle Steers as Jess, Bea Ward as Scoot and Cassandra McCowan in the female ensemble. Steers has played in Six in the West End and appeared at the Old Vic, while Ward toured the UK and Ireland in Miss Saigon. McCowan returns to Charing Cross Theatre after appearing in Stiletto there. More casting will be announced.
What is the show about?
The story takes place on the day of Billy’s high school graduation. Unsure what he wants from the future, he comes across a trunk full of letters his mother wrote to him before she died. He had grown up believing she walked out on him as a child, and the discovery sends him and his best friend Scoot off to piece together who she really was, and what her story might tell him about his own.
Chilina Kennedy, who is also an actor and singer, has written the music and lyrics. Her songs nod to the great singer songwriters of the 1970s, Joni Mitchell among them, with pop, rock, country and soul all in the mix. The book is by Dani Stoller, author of the play Easy Women Smoking Loose Cigarettes, and the show is at heart about buried family history, past romances and what we hand down to those we leave behind.
The creative team
Kristin Hanggi, whose directing credits include Rock of Ages, is at the helm. Daniel Edmonds is music supervisor, orchestrator and arranger, and Caitlin McNeilage is associate producer, with further names to follow. The show is presented by Keaka Productions and Charing Cross Theatre Productions with Eric McCormack, Michael Scott and Second Set. McCormack, best known as Will in Will & Grace, played Michael in the 2024 Drury Lane concerts.
