Age is a Stage tickets in Brighton

Age is a Stage is a weekly drama workshop at Theatre Royal Brighton for adults aged 50 and over. Each ninety-minute session uses theatre skills, comedy and playfulness to build confidence, lift mood and connect participants with one another.

What the sessions involve

Each workshop offers a creative outlet away from everyday routines, drawing on the atmosphere of a working theatre to energise participants. Drama and comedy exercises encourage spontaneity, with laughter treated as an active ingredient rather than a by-product. Forging new connections between people attending is central to how the sessions function.

The workshops are led by Chris Cresswell, who has spent more than four decades working across theatre, cabaret, circus and film. His practice is grounded in the belief that comedy and theatrical skill have a meaningful role in healthy ageing and in reducing loneliness.

Who it is for

The sessions are open to all adults aged 50 and above. The source describes the environment as a safe space, with emphasis on participation and playfulness rather than any assessed outcome.
