All About Eve

What is All About Eve about?

Based on the classic 1950 film starring Bette Davis, All About Eve follows the story of Margo Channing, a legendary but ageing Broadway star, and Eve Harrington, a seemingly innocent young fan who insinuates herself into Margo's life. What begins as mentorship slowly reveals itself as something far more calculating, as Eve methodically positions herself to take everything Margo has. The play is a razor-sharp exploration of ambition, jealousy, ageing, and the price of fame in the theatre world.

Why see All About Eve?

The stage adaptation brings a fresh perspective to a story that has become a byword for backstage betrayal. The theatre setting adds a delicious layer of meta-theatrical irony, watching a play about the theatre, in a theatre. The dual roles of Margo and Eve demand exceptional performers who can navigate the shifting power dynamics with subtlety and wit. For anyone fascinated by the psychology of ambition and the performing arts, this is essential viewing.
