Beautiful - The Carole King Musical will play its final performance in London on 5 August 2017

WHO IS CAROLE KING?

Carole King, the chart-topping music legend, was an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent.

She fought her way into the record industry as a teenager and sold her first hit, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, when she was just seventeen. By the time she was twenty she was writing number ones for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll, including the Drifters, the Shirelles, Aretha Franklin and the Monkees.

But her greatest challenge was to find her own voice and finally step into the spotlight.

You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't know at least one Carole King song :- You've Got A Friend, It's Too Late, So Far Away, Tapestry, I Feel The Earth Move, Child Of Mine, Go Away Little Girl, It Might As Well Rain Until September, It's Going To Take Some Time, The Locomotion, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, One Fine Day, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Up On The Roof, and Where You Lead, are just some of Carole's many hits.
WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT?

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical  is the untold story of Carole King’s journey from school girl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom.

Along the way, she became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history, and wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

THE BROADWAY PRODUCTION

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in January 2014 and the show became one of the most popular shows on Broadway where it is still playing having won both Tony Awards and Drama Desk Awards.

INTERESTING FACTS
King's 1971 solo album Tapestry spent 15 weeks at the top of the charts, and stayed on the charts for more than six years.

Carole was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990 and the Songwriters' Hall Of Fame in 1987.

Carole and her daughter Louise Goffin, also a singer, sang the theme song "Where You Lead," for the long-running mother/daughter sitcom The Gilmore Girls.

To date, more than 400 of Carole King's compositions have been recorded by over 1000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles.

Until recently Carole King had not seen the musical that bears her name claiming that many of the aspects of her life were too painful to watch. That all changed when after viewing the show King took to the stage to congratulate the Broadway cast. Watch what happened on that magical night.
