About the show
Cinderella, Stuart Paterson’s Christmas show at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, runs from 28 November to 31 December 2026, with Molly Geddes as Cinderella.
Citizens Theatre Christmas show 2026: Cinderella
Cinderella by Stuart Paterson is the Citizens Theatre's own Christmas show for 2026, running in the Main Theatre in the Gorbals from Saturday 28 November to Thursday 31 December 2026. Directed by Joanna Bowman, with Molly Geddes in the title role, it is a fun twist on the much-loved fairytale for families looking for alternative, theatrical entertainment this Christmas rather than a traditional pantomime.
The story and what to expect
It's nearly time for the Prince's ball, but poor Cinderella is working her fingers to the bone in the cold, dark kitchens thanks to her cruel and greedy stepsisters' nasty tricks. Luckily she has some new friends, and a little magic, to help her get to the ball and win the heart of the Prince. But does her heart's true desire lie closer to home? Expect a show full of magic and mischief, with original music by composer John Patrick Elliot and clowning shaped by clown director Tim Licata.
Cast
Molly Geddes plays Cinderella and Leandro Daniel plays the Prince. Claire Dargo plays Claudia, the stepmother, with Emma Mullen as Claudette and Hannah Visocchi as Claudine.
Michael Dylan plays Sergeant Puff, Callum Geddes plays Callum and Keith Macpherson plays the King and Cinderella's father. Angus Bhattacharya and Mhairi Watt are the understudies.
Creative team
Stuart Paterson writes and Joanna Bowman directs. Jessica Worrall designs the production, John Patrick Elliot composes the music, Lizzie Powell designs the lighting and Ben Morgan the sound. Jack Webb is choreographer and movement director, and Tim Licata is clown director and consultant. Cinderella is a Citizens Theatre production.
Dates and times
The run begins with First Look performances on Saturday 28 November, Wednesday 2 December and Thursday 3 December, all at 7pm. After that, Saturday performances are usually at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday performances at 1pm and 5pm, with 7pm evening shows on selected weekdays and 10.30am schools performances on weekday mornings in early December. Christmas week has 2pm and 7pm shows, while Christmas Eve and the days after Christmas have performances at 1pm and 5pm. The final performance is on Thursday 31 December at 2pm.
Who is it for (age guidance and running time)
The Citizens Theatre recommends Cinderella for ages 6+. The show runs for 2 hours, including an interval. Access, Gorbals, Under 30s and Low Income passes apply. For younger children, the theatre runs a separate festive show for little ones in its Studio.
Accessible performances
An audio described performance with a touch tour is on Sunday 13 December at 1pm, and a BSL interpreted performance is on Thursday 17 December at 7pm. The relaxed performance is on Sunday 20 December at 5pm. A captioned performance follows on Tuesday 22 December at 7pm, and Tuesday 29 December at 1pm is both captioned and audio described. The Main Theatre has level access from the street, lifts to each level, wheelchair positions in the stalls and circle, and hearing aid induction loops.
Christmas at the Citz
The Citz Christmas show is produced by the Citizens Theatre itself, and it offers an alternative, theatrical family Christmas in the Gorbals. Rather than a star-led pantomime, Cinderella tells the fairytale with music, magic and mischief, in a new script by Stuart Paterson and a production designed by Jessica Worrall.
Getting to the Citizens Theatre
The Citizens Theatre is at 119 Gorbals Street, Glasgow, close to Bridge Street Subway station and a 15 to 20 minute walk from Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations. A number of First Bus Greater Glasgow buses pass the front of the theatre. There is a small car park next to the theatre, with four blue badge spaces closest to the building.
