Free 30-minute pre-show talk for Scottish Opera's Turandot at Theatre Royal Glasgow. Book a limited place for this Puccini co-production.
A free, half-hour pre-show talk at Theatre Royal Glasgow offers a closer look at the creative thinking behind Scottish Opera's new co-production of Puccini's Turandot with Irish National Opera. Places are limited and must be reserved in advance.
The thirty-minute session explores the detail of Turandot and the decisions made by the production team, with the aim of enhancing enjoyment and extending knowledge of the piece.
The production is directed by Sir David McVicar, who reunites with the creative team behind Scottish Opera's 2023 Il trittico. McVicar addresses the psychological complexity of both Turandot and Prince Calaf, framing the story as an encounter between two figures caught between fear and desire. Stuart Stratford conducts The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, with a cast including Trine Bastrup Møller, Victor Starsky, Insung Sim and Hye-Youn Lee. Set and costume designs are by Charles Edwards and Doey Lüthi, with lighting by Ben Pickersgill.
Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance. Availability is limited. Age guidance at Theatre Royal Glasgow is 12 and above.
