Theatre Tour - History tickets in Birmingham

The History Theatre Tour at The Alexandra, Birmingham offers a guided look at 125 years of theatrical life at one of the West Midlands' most storied venues. Expert guides lead visitors through dressing rooms, backstage working areas, and, where visiting company policy allows, onto the stage itself.

What the tour covers

This is a guided behind-the-scenes event, not a performance. The tour takes in dressing rooms associated with figures such as Laurence Olivier and the functional backstage spaces that keep productions running. Guides lead the group through all parts of the theatre, which involves navigating multiple staircases throughout.

Practical considerations

Stage access is offered where the current visiting company permits it and cannot be guaranteed on every date. Photography and video recording are not allowed at any point during the tour. The route includes many stairs, so those with limited mobility should consider whether it is suitable before booking.
