Fans of Westerburg High, rejoice. Heathers the Musical has confirmed a packed schedule of UK and Ireland tour dates stretching from summer 2026 all the way through to spring 2027. The award-winning show, which has become one of the most beloved cult musicals of the last decade, is returning to venues across the country with an extensive new run that promises to bring its darkly comic blend of teenage angst, biting satire, and irresistible pop-rock numbers to audiences once again.

London dates are also expected to be announced in due course, so theatregoers in the capital have plenty to look forward to as well.

A Brief History of Heathers the Musical

For those unfamiliar with its journey, Heathers the Musical is based on the iconic 1989 cult film of the same name, which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. Written by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O'Keefe, the stage adaptation first premiered in Los Angeles back in 2013 before transferring to New York's New World Stages the following year. The show quickly developed a passionate fanbase thanks to its razor-sharp book and an exceptional score packed with songs like "Candy Store", "Dead Girl Walking", and "Seventeen".

A revised version of the musical opened in London in 2018, introducing new material that proved so successful it was later incorporated into the New York production. Since then, Heathers has enjoyed three separate West End runs and three UK and Ireland tours, cementing its status as a modern musical theatre phenomenon. The show's achievements include winning Best New Musical at the 2019 WhatsOnStage Awards, and in 2022 it was captured on film for streaming via the Roku Channel, broadening its reach to an even wider audience.

Full List of Confirmed Tour Dates

The newly announced tour kicks off in late August 2026 and runs through the autumn before picking up again in early 2027. Here is the complete list of confirmed venues and dates so far:

With 16 confirmed stops and more likely to follow, this is shaping up to be the most extensive Heathers tour to date. The inclusion of Dublin also means Irish fans will once again have the chance to experience the show live.

The enduring appeal of Heathers the Musical lies in its ability to tackle weighty themes with a wickedly funny, self-aware tone. Set in an American high school dominated by a ruthless clique of girls all named Heather, the story follows Veronica Sawyer as she navigates the treacherous social hierarchy. Things take a dramatically dark turn when she falls for the mysterious new kid, JD, and their rebellion against the popular crowd spirals violently out of control.

Despite its dark subject matter (or perhaps because of it), the show has resonated powerfully with younger audiences in particular. Its songs have become staples on musical theatre playlists, and the show's blend of 1980s nostalgia, sharp humour, and genuinely emotional moments gives it a unique energy that sets it apart from more traditional musicals. The fact that it continues to sell out venues across the UK is testament to the strength of the writing and the passionate community that has grown around it.

The Creative Team Behind the New Tour

The upcoming tour will be directed by Andy Fickman, who has been instrumental in shaping the show's trajectory over the years. Choreography comes from Gary Lloyd, with set and costume design by David Shields. The technical elements are handled by an equally impressive team: Ben Cracknell is on lighting design, Dan Samson takes charge of sound, and musical supervision falls to Jeremy Wootton and Will Joy.

No casting announcements have been made at the time of writing, but previous tours have been known for assembling incredibly talented ensembles that have helped launch careers in the West End and beyond. Casting news is expected in the coming months and will no doubt generate significant excitement among the show's devoted following.

London Dates Still to Come

While the regional tour schedule is now taking shape, one of the most anticipated pieces of news is the confirmation that London dates are also expected to be revealed. Heathers has a strong track record in the West End, with its previous London runs drawing enthusiastic crowds and critical acclaim. Whether the show returns to one of its former West End homes or finds a new London venue remains to be seen, but it is a safe bet that tickets will be in high demand once details are announced.

Should You Book?

If you have never seen Heathers the Musical, the 2026-2027 tour is an ideal opportunity to discover why it has become such a phenomenon. With venues spread right across the UK and Ireland, there is likely a date within easy reach. And if you are a returning fan, you already know this show delivers something different with every production.

Tickets for selected dates are already on sale, so it is worth booking early, particularly for popular venues where Heathers has a proven track record of selling out quickly. Keep an eye out for London dates and casting announcements in the months ahead.
