Ian McKellen Live On Stage – turné i Storbritannien

Ian McKellen firar sin 80-årsdag nästa år genom att samla in pengar till landets teatrar med en helt ny soloföreställning som kommer att spelas på 80 scener runtom i Storbritannien.

Det hela drar igång i januari 2019 med en turné i London – från National Theatre till Theatre Royal Stratford East – samt föreställningar i West End och yttre London. Därefter besöker han teatrar över hela landet, stora som små, som han har en personlig koppling till. Det rör sig om allt från amatörteatergrupper han kände som barn till kända teaterhus där han stått på scen som professionell skådespelare under de senaste 50 åren.

Biljetter till överkomliga priser kommer att finnas tillgängliga överallt. All vinst kommer att gå till specifika ändamål vid varje enskild teater.

Hans personliga föreställning är en blandning av anekdoter och skådespeleri, med inslag av Tolkien, Shakespeare och andra... och ni i publiken.

Ian McKellen säger: ”Jag firar min 80-årsdag genom att turnera med en ny soloshow till teatrar jag känner väl och några jag aldrig besökt. Föreställningen börjar med Gandalf och slutar förmodligen med en inbjudan att agera tillsammans med mig på scen. Däremellan bjuds det på anekdoter och skådespeleri. Jag har premiär på mitt lokala kulturhus i januari och avslutar i augusti på Orkneyöarna. Live-teater har alltid varit fantastiskt för mig, både som skådespelare och som en del av publiken. Under min uppväxt i Lancashire var jag tacksam mot de sällskap som turnerade utanför London, och jag har alltid velat återgälda den skulden genom att själv turnera kors och tvärs över landet med National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Prospect Theatre, Actors’ Company och i kommersiella uppsättningar. Regissören Sean Mathias och jag har arbetat tillsammans för både scen och film under många lyckliga stunder.”
