Rehearsal photos are out for the brand-new staging of The Snowman, which comes to London for Christmas. The show plays the Peacock Theatre from 21 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, and you can find The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre dates and tickets on British Theatre.
Will Tuckett directs and choreographs the show, which Birmingham Rep presents with Sadler’s Wells. Before London, it has its world premiere in the House at Birmingham Rep, where it runs from 20 October to 1 November 2026, with a press night on 29 October. The full cast was announced in a report by WhatsOnStage on 2 October 2026.

Who is in the new cast
Four young actors share the role of the Boy: Felix Anderson, Jake Durant, Tristan Marwa and Tate Masuku. They are joined by Teague Applegate, Andrew Ashton, Serafina Sofia Barbieri, Ross Black, Natasha Chu, Eleanor Copping, Kynda Ng, Alice O’Brien, Andrii Osadchyi, Suzy Osadchyi, Ben Randall and Aaron Smyth.
Andrew Ashton already knows the story well. His Birmingham Rep biography lists the title role in The Snowman in London among his credits.
The creative team behind the Snowman
Tahra Zafar has joined the team to design the Snowman himself. She created Paddington Bear for the West End stage, work that won her an Olivier Award and a WhatsOnStage Award. Her other credits include Star Wars Episode VII and the London 2012 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies.
Anna Fleischle is the designer, with video design by Nina Dunn for PixelLux, illusions by Chris Fisher and puppet design by Daisy Beattie. Matt Daw designs the lighting and Kelsh Buckman-Drage the sound, while Floyd Hughes and Adam Bailey of Flying by Foy direct the flying sequences. Emma Brunton is associate puppetry director, Keziah Ferguson is Fleischle’s associate designer and Paul James Rooney is assistant director and choreographer. Casting is by Amy Beadel for Grindrod Burton Casting.
A story that keeps coming back
The show is based on Raymond Briggs’ wordless picture book and the animated film, and uses Howard Blake’s score, including Walking in the Air. A boy builds a snowman that comes to life, and the pair fly off together to meet Father Christmas and some friendly reindeer beneath the Northern Lights.
Birmingham Rep introduced The Snowman in 1993. It became the longest-running show in the theatre’s history, toured the UK and spent 29 years as a seasonal fixture at the Peacock Theatre. The running time is 1 hour 30 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

The Snowman at the Peacock Theatre
