Om föreställningen

Rob Madge's joyful solo musical comedy My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?) returns for a final West End run at the Apollo Theatre.

My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?) returns to the West End for a final London run, and you can see it at the Apollo Theatre. Written and performed by Rob Madge, this solo autobiographical musical comedy turns a childhood obsession into a warm, joyful celebration of being yourself, with home video footage, quick costume changes and a homemade Disney parade brought to a proper stage.

What is My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?) about?

The show recreates Rob Madge's childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade inside the family home, with Dad on sound and floats and Mum in the audience. Madge plays a string of beloved characters, weaving family memories and real home video into a coming-of-age story that is as touching as it is funny. It is a tribute to the parents who said yes, and a feel-good story about growing up queer with love and encouragement.

Who created My Son's a Queer (But What Can You Do?)?

Rob Madge writes and performs the one-person show, directed by Luke Sheppard, with songs by Pippa Cleary. The production won Best Off-West End Production at the WhatsOnStage Awards. As a solo show, Madge leads every performance, and casting is confirmed ahead of the run and can occasionally change.
