The Haunting of Hill House tickets and regional UK dates

Shirley Jackson's classic ghost story comes to the stage in a new adaptation written by Stef Smith, an Olivier and BAFTA award winner, and directed by Martin Constantine, winner of a Sky Arts Award. The production is rated 12+ and is presented by Wiltshire Creative in association with Theatr Clwyd.

What the story is about

A group of investigators arrive at Hill House to uncover its mysteries, but curiosity quickly gives way to fear. Strange disturbances move through the corridors, experiments veer into darkness, and the production poses the question of whether the house is truly haunted or whether the horrors belong to the people within it.

Smith's adaptation treats ghosts as something fluid, with memory, longing, guilt and anger carrying as much weight as any spectral presence, and grief, desire and the pull of belonging running through the story.

About the production

This is a straight play in the drama category, with no musical numbers. Mark Puddle, Alexander "Sandy" Marshall and Patrick Myles present the production, which is supported by Arts Council England using public funding.
