Mischief's Christmas Carol Goes Wrong tours UK theatres as the Cornley Amateur Drama Society tackles Dickens. Ages 8+, 2hrs 20mins. Find tickets.
Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is a comedy play from Mischief, the multi-award-winning company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, in which the fictional Cornley Amateur Drama Society attempts to stage A Christmas Carol. Co-writers Henry Shields, Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer all perform in the show, with Shields playing Chris Bean, the character who takes on the role of Scrooge.
The Cornley crew's attempt at a Dickens adaptation is beset by miscommunication, delayed scenery, missing cast members and a feud over who should play the lead, all unravelling around the story of Ebenezer Scrooge. The comedy arises from the amateur company's increasingly doomed efforts to hold the production together.
The show runs for two hours and twenty minutes.
Mischief also created Peter Pan Goes Wrong and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. This touring production follows a strictly limited West End run and visits Opera House Manchester, Grand Opera House York, Milton Keynes Theatre and The Alexandra, Birmingham.
The show carries an age guidance of eight and above. Any attendee under sixteen must be seated directly next to an adult aged eighteen or over.
