About the show

The Silence of the Lambs makes its world stage play premiere with John Partridge and Mollie Gallagher touring UK theatres – book tickets here.

The Silence of the Lambs tickets and regional UK dates

Thomas Harris's novel The Silence of the Lambs receives its world stage play premiere in this new drama written by Gina Gionfriddo and directed by Nikolai Foster. John Partridge plays Hannibal Lecter opposite Mollie Gallagher as Clarice Starling, with Oliver Farnworth as Agent Jack Crawford and Sam Jackson as Buffalo Bill. The production runs two hours and fifteen minutes.

The story on stage

FBI trainee Clarice Starling is sent to interview the imprisoned psychiatrist and killer Hannibal Lecter, hoping his insight will help identify a serial killer known as Buffalo Bill, who has a woman in his grip. Lecter will share information, but on his own terms, drawing Clarice into an unsettling psychological negotiation as time runs out.

This is the first stage play adaptation of Harris's novel, distinct from the film. Gina Gionfriddo's script works from the source novel, and Nikolai Foster directs the production for a live audience.

Cast and creative team

John Partridge, known for EastEnders and the stage production Cabaret, takes the role of Hannibal Lecter. Mollie Gallagher, familiar from Coronation Street, plays Clarice Starling. Oliver Farnworth, from Emmerdale, appears as Agent Jack Crawford, and Sam Jackson, known from Skins, plays Buffalo Bill.

Audience considerations

The production carries age guidance of 15 and above. It includes graphic depictions of killing and threatened violence, very strong language, prosthetic human remains used onstage, sexual references and harassment, flashing lights, haze, and loud noises including gunshots.

At New Theatre Oxford, audio description is provided by Mind's Eye and captioning by Stagetext. Prospective visitors to other venues should check directly with their chosen theatre regarding available access services.
