The spectacular world tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical has unveiled its new cast as the production prepares to sweep through England with four additional tour stops running from June through October 2025. With the West End production continuing to pack audiences in at the Piccadilly Theatre, demand for Baz Luhrmann's jukebox musical phenomenon shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

Leading the company in this next leg of the world tour will be Verity Thompson as the enchanting Satine, joined by Nate Landskroner as the lovestruck writer Christian. The ever-charismatic Cameron Blakely takes on the role of Harold Zidler, the flamboyant ringmaster of the Moulin Rouge nightclub.

Four English Venues Confirmed for 2025
Following its initial launch last year, the world tour will visit four major English cities this summer and autumn. The confirmed dates are:
Sunderland Empire: 5 to 27 June 2025
Liverpool Empire: 2 July to 8 August 2025
Theatre Royal Plymouth: 20 August to 19 September 2025
Mayflower Southampton: 24 September to 24 October 2025
Each venue will host the production for several weeks, giving audiences across the north, south west, and south of England ample opportunity to experience this lavish spectacle. Extended runs of this length are a clear signal of the show's commercial power and its ability to draw audiences over sustained periods.
From Oscar-Winning Film to Global Stage Sensation
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on Baz Luhrmann's beloved 2001 film set in turn-of-the-century Paris. The movie told the story of a Parisian courtesan who falls in love with a young writer, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in career-defining roles. At the 74th Academy Awards, the film earned eight Oscar nominations and took home two wins, for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.
The stage adaptation retains the film's breathless energy and its signature mashup approach to popular music, weaving together iconic songs from across the decades into a dazzling theatrical experience. The musical first premiered on Broadway in 2019, where it won ten Tony Awards, before transferring to London's West End and subsequently launching this world tour.
Award-Winning Creative Team Behind the Spectacle
The production boasts a creative pedigree to match its source material. Direction comes from Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, with a book by celebrated screenwriter John Logan, whose credits include Gladiator, The Aviator, and the James Bond films Skyfall and Spectre. Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh, who won the Tony Award for Best Choreography for this very production, creating movement that captures the frenetic, sensual energy of the Parisian nightclub.
Music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements are by Justin Levine, who has crafted the show's distinctive sonic landscape, blending songs by artists ranging from Elton John and David Bowie to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga into a seamless theatrical score.
The design team is equally stellar. Derek McLane's stunning set design transforms each venue into a recreation of the legendary Moulin Rouge, complete with the iconic windmill and lavish interiors. Catherine Zuber provides the extravagant costumes, while Justin Townsend's lighting design creates the atmospheric glow that shifts between romantic intimacy and full-throttle spectacle. Peter Hylenski handles sound design, with David Brian Brown responsible for wig and hair design and Sarah Cimino creating the period-appropriate make-up design.
Casting for the tour was handled by the respected team of Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher.
Production and Management
The world tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical is produced by Carmen Pavlovic and Gerry Ryan OAM for Global Creatures, alongside Bill Damaschke. Global Creatures, the Australian production company, has been instrumental in bringing the show from screen to stage and expanding it into a worldwide phenomenon. Executive producers are Angela Dalton and Nick Grace Management, with general management and tour booking also handled by Nick Grace Management.
West End Production Continues at the Piccadilly Theatre
While the tour brings Moulin Rouge! to audiences across the country, the London production continues its residency at the Piccadilly Theatre in the heart of the West End. The show has been a consistent seller since its London premiere, drawing both tourists and repeat visitors eager to experience the sensory overload of this unique theatrical event.
The Piccadilly Theatre's intimate auditorium has proved an ideal match for the production's immersive design, with the venue's interior transformed to transport audiences directly into the world of the Moulin Rouge from the moment they step through the doors.
Should You Book?
If you have been waiting for Moulin Rouge! The Musical to visit a venue near you, this is excellent news. The extended tour runs at each venue suggest that tickets should be available across a range of dates, but past experience with this production tells us that the best seats and weekend performances will sell quickly. Early booking is strongly recommended, particularly for the Sunderland and Liverpool dates, which offer the first opportunity to see this new cast in action.
