Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone
8 March 2027 to 29 March 2027 (selected dates)
An Evening with Sir David Jason: career stories, rare clips and anecdotes with Mike Bushell on tour. Age 12+, 2hr 50min. Book tickets.
Sir David Jason looks back over his television career in a live conversation with BBC Breakfast presenter Mike Bushell. An Evening with Sir David Jason combines personal stories with archive footage, taking in comedy, drama and voice work.
An Evening with Sir David Jason is a live talk format rather than a theatrical production. Mike Bushell joins Sir David on stage, giving the show a conversational structure as Sir David guides the audience through episodes from his working life, from early amateur dramatics through to decades of television.
A significant portion of the show concerns craft and process. Sir David explains how Del Boy's character grew beyond what the original scripts envisaged, and how he approached the vocal demands of animated roles including Danger Mouse, The BFG, Count Duckula, and Toad, sometimes working from a single reference image. Rare clips are screened during the evening, blending spoken storytelling with broadcast footage. Specific Only Fools and Horses moments are discussed in detail, among them the bar fall, the Jolly Boys' Outing, and the Batman and Robin sequence.
The show carries an age guidance of 12 and above at all listed venues. At nearly three hours, it is a long sitting, which is worth bearing in mind when booking for younger audience members.
For the Swansea Building Society Arena date, Sir David has noted a personal connection to Wales through family ties to Merthyr Tydfil.
