Shen Yun

Woking Theatre
13 February 2027 to 28 February 2027 (selected dates)

About the show

Shen Yun brings classical Chinese dance and live orchestra to Woking, Stoke-on-Trent and Oxford. Ages 5+, 2hrs 15mins. Check tickets for your date.

Shen Yun tickets and regional UK dates

Shen Yun is a dance performance drawing on classical Chinese dance to portray stories, legends and ethnic traditions spanning five millennia of Chinese civilisation. It visits Woking Theatre, Regent Theatre Stoke-on-Trent and New Theatre Oxford, with each programme running approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, recommended for ages five and above.

What the show presents

The production frames itself as a portrait of China before communism, encompassing imperial dynasties, spiritual traditions and regional folk customs. Individual scenes are drawn from timeless legends and depictions of scholars and artists living in harmony with the Tao. A live orchestra combining Eastern and Western instruments accompanies the dancers, and the company uses patented animated backdrops to extend each scene into a digitally rendered landscape behind the performers. Costuming is tied to specific historical or mythological contexts within each scene.

Practical information

Children under five are not admitted at any of the three venues. The age guidance of five and above is a firm policy rather than a loose recommendation, and applies equally at Woking Theatre, Regent Theatre Stoke-on-Trent and New Theatre Oxford.
