EERSTE BLIK: Standing At The Sky's Edge in het Gillian Lynne Theatre, Londen

The National Theatre en Various Productions hebben de eerste scènefoto's vrijgegeven voor de West End-première van de Sheffield Theatre-hit, Standing at the Sky's Edge.

De regie is in handen van Sheffield Theatres' artistiek directeur Robert Hastie en de voorstelling bevat nummers van de legendarische singer-songwriter Richard Hawley uit Sheffield.  Met een script van Chris Bush dat zowel hilarisch als hartverscheurend is, volgt Standing at the Sky's Edge de hoop en dromen van drie generaties gedurende zes tumultueuze decennia, waarbij universele thema's als liefde, verlies en overleving centraal staan. De jongeren-cast die het gezelschap compleet maakt bestaat uit Alayna Anderson, Luca Foster-Lejeune, Renée Hart, Eric Madgwick, Chioma Nduka en Sam Stocks.

Robert Hastie werkt samen met decor- en kostuumontwerper Ben Stones; choreograaf Lynne Page; orkestrator, arrangeur en oorspronkelijk muzikaal supervisor Tom Deering; lichtontwerper Mark Henderson; geluidsontwerper Bobby Aitken; pruiken-, haar- en make-upontwerper Cynthia De La Rosa, casting director Stuart Burt CDG, kinder-casting director Chloe Blake en dialectcoaches Michaela Kennen en Shereen Ibrahim. De associate director is Elin Schofield, de associate choreograaf is Thomas Herron, de muzikaal leider en associate music supervisor is Alex Beetschen, de associate sound designer is Jonas Roebuck en de associate costume designer is Sally Wilson.

Sharlene Hector (Grace). Foto: Brinkhoff Moegenburg Standing at the Sky's Edge is een veelbekroonde productie die onder andere 'Beste Nieuwe Musical' won bij de Olivier Awards 2023. Richard Hawley en Tom Deering wonnen daar ook de award voor 'Beste Originele Score en Nieuwe Orkestraties'.  Onlangs werd de productie bekroond met het internationaal erkende 'Made in Sheffield'®-keurmerk; de eerste keer dat een theaterproductie dit unieke handelsmerk heeft ontvangen.  Eerder won de show al de South Bank Sky Arts Award voor Theater (2020) en 'Beste Musicalproductie' bij de UK Theatre Awards in 2019.

Foto: Brinkhoff Moegenburg Standing at the Sky's Edge werd oorspronkelijk gemaakt in opdracht van Sheffield Theatres en Various Productions en beleefde de wereldpremière in het Crucible Theatre in 2019. Na een enorm succesvolle, uitverkochte reeks keerde de show in december 2022 terug naar het Crucible Theatre, om vervolgens in Londen in première te gaan in het Olivier Theatre (National Theatre) begin 2023, waar de voorstelling avond na avond uitverkocht en staande ovaties ontving.
