Edinburgh Fringe 2018 sees the debut of an insightful new play about the legendary Chinese American actress Anna May Wong.
In An Evening with Miss Wong we join the inimitable Anna May Wong in one of her cabaret shows where, amongst some of her favourite songs, she tells us of her rise from laundry girl to one of Hollywood's most glamorous stars, and of her fight to prove that the world needed a Chinese-American star whether they wanted one or not. It is not only a story about a search for identity, about sacrifices made, but about a woman who was determined to make her mark on the world and have a damned good time doing it.
From the team behind the hit play The Unknown Soldier and the thought-provoking Gratiano. This is the second solo show from actress Michelle Yim, following on from her debut show The Empress and Me that played at Edfringe last year and Adelaide Fringe this year. An Evening with Miss Wong runs at Assembly Rooms Edinburgh from 2- 26 August 2018 as part of the Edinburgh Fringe 2018. The show is presented by Grist To The Mill Productions.
